Coats, peacoats and shearling: the perfect combination for a warm winter

Autumn's allure ushers in cold temperatures: which jacket should you choose for this winter?

If warm fabrics, from wool to cashmere, have emerged from your wardrobe change, now is the time for winter coats.

But what are this winter's trends? How can you find the perfect match?

Here are all the essentials for next season, tailored to the tastes and sartorial lines of two iconic brands: Saint-Laurent, Max Mara, Valentino, and more.

Saint-Laurent: shearling and peacoat bomber jacket

The elegance of Saint-Laurent's tailored lines is evident at first glance: coats, dresses, décolleté shoes, bags, and accessories.

Just think of the LouLou bag and the unmistakable Opyum sandals , the flagship products of the French fashion house and true style icons.

Allure that also triumphs in the army bomber jacket with removable shearling collar , with comfortable zip fastening and ribbed cuffs.

A perfect winter jacket to pair not only with elegant looks, but also with more casual and sporty outfits.

What if we told you that Yves Saint-Laurent was one of the greatest creators of ready-to-wear?

The birth of the French fashion house

The truth is that Yves Saint Laurent entered the industry at just 17 years old, when he won the dress category award , beating out names of the caliber of Karl Lagerfeld and Pierre Balmain.

Deeply impressed by the creative ability of the very young Saint-Laurent, Michel de Brunhoff (editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris) recommended him to the emblem of French fashion houses, Christian Dior .

The understanding between two of the biggest names on the international scene was immediate: Dior himself would refer to Yves as his heir in the fashion world.

And indeed, the propensity to create sketches that exude elegance is the same, as is the taste for refinement.

After his initial role as an interior designer , Saint-Laurent's talent began to spread like wildfire in the world of ready-to-wear .

Until he took on the role of creative director of Christian Dior at the age of 21.

Saint-Laurent's creative flair becomes increasingly explicit, to the point of brushing against street chic.

This bubble-up process culminates in the famous leather jacket presented in the 1960 Beat show as a piece of haute couture.

This departure from the classic lines typical of Dior, however, did not convince the critics.

Accomplice the war in Algeria which forced him to enlist, the rift with the French fashion house became increasingly stronger.

In 1962, the Yves Saint-Laurent fashion house was born, founded with his esteemed colleague Pierre Bergé.

Saint-Laurent's first collection was a real success.

The most beautiful collection since Chanel

The show opened with the peacoat , the first piece to be presented under the Saint-Laurent name.

The peacoat, still a key piece of the maison's collections today, is a coat with masculine lines.

Saint-Laurent, however, presented it in the women's collection, pairing it with elegant white trousers (which still inspire us today!): style met comfort for the first time.

Max Mara: teddy coats

With 70 years of history behind it, Max Mara is today one of the fashion houses that symbolizes that (much) sought-after perfect integration between elegance and practicality.

The love for tailoring emerges from the fluid lines of all the garments, “haute de gamme” par excellence.

And who hasn't had a Max Mara coat in their wardrobe?

Following in the footsteps of trendy teddy jackets, here is the parka, made of knitted fabric, alpaca, virgin wool and silk, which can be tightened at the waist with an internal elastic drawstring at a low waist.

Valentino: Pink PP for her and single-breasted for him

Autumn Winter 22/23 is colored in a monochrome Pink .

Valentino's Pink PP collection has crowned the fuchsia shade that more than any other transmits " an experimental energy" , according to creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli.

Perfect for a winter that is anything but boring , animated by new, radically contemporary codes!

For those accustomed to the maison's more classic lines, the perfect solution is the iconic wool blend coat with classic lapels and front fastening.

Shearling and down jackets: winter addicted!

In a perfect 80s revival , the spotlight is on the return of the shearling trend .

Arm in arm with the teddy coat, shearling jackets for this autumn winter see furry details clearly visible on the outside, on cuffs and collars.

But the real question is: what would winter be without a down jacket?

From Valentino to Givenchy to OFF White, Alauni and Palm Angels, our women's and men's down jackets will be the perfect outerwear for cold winter days!
